Philadelphia Flower Show 2017

Philadelphia Flower Show 2017 ticketsThis past weekend I attended the Philadelphia Flower Show. This year’s theme is Holland: Flowering the World. Needless to say there were various bicycles and clogs integrated throughout the designs. That part was a bit expected; however, the creativity of the designs never cease to amaze me. Of course, nothing compares to Mother Nature herself, but there were some pretty interesting and inspiring interpretations. As much as I enjoy the creative things that people do with the flowers, there’s just something about staring into the face of a beautiful plant. I’m a bit of a garden enthusiast so I get excited about these things.

I’ve loved bonsai trees since childhood. I think it was because of The Karate Kid but that’s a whole ‘nother story. It’s just amazing to me how delicate these little trees are and how much care they take. If you’re going to get into bonsai, then you’re in it for the long haul. The practice seems quite meditative to me and I’m sure rewarding. I’ll settle for just gazing upon others’ hard work.

I won’t pretend to understand the layers of organizations, businesses, and other communities tied to the Flower Show. There’s all sorts of different displays and judging of plants. It’s more than enough to make your head spin. I’m not going to explain this wonderfully surreal display basically because I can’t. I am totally entranced by it though. It feels like some sort of apocalyptic, fairy tale. I think this might be my favorite display from the show this year. It’s hard to say though because there’s just so, so much beauty at the show.

The Flower Show was an amazing experience; an immersion into a world of color, creativity, and flora. If you haven’t experienced it, I highly encourage you to go if you have an affinity for stuff like that. As many times as I’ve been, I see new and even more creative things each year.
